VDOMs are virtual domains which operates as a separate logical firewall within a Fortigate device.
Each VDOM can operate independently from other VDOMs on the same Fortigate device.
Up to 10 VDOMs are supported on FortiGate
The super_admin account has access to configure all VDOMs on a FortiGate.
One administrator is usually created per VDOM and has access to only that VDOM.
One administrator can be configured to access multiple VDOMs on the same FortiGate.
The ROOT VDOM displays the total number of VDOMs within brackets: VDOM (VDOM-ID)
System > Settings
Network > Interfaces > Create New (Interface) > set the interface type as VLAN, specify the VLAN ID and physical port.
Network > Static Routes
Destination: 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0.
Gateway address: Address of the gateway device.
Priority: If more than one default routes are configured, the route with the lower priority value will be installed in the routing table and be used.
The DHCP server is configured under an interface.
Click on the top-right corner on username > Configurations > Backup or Restore
